PIMP My Desktop PC, VISTA!

29 Apr

8.45am : Start to install the Windows Vista Ultimate on my Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.60Ghz desktop PC before I take my bath. After 45 minutes later, Windows Vista loaded without any problem.

Next step is to install the 3Com EtherLink 10/100 PCI TX NIC (3C905B-TX) driver because Windows Vista do not come with the required driver. 3Com website also did not provide with the Vista driver. Luckily got this 3Com Etherlink XL 3C90x Adapter Driver from Windows Marketplace. It works great and now I’m able to connect to the internet to update the Windows Vista updates.

10am, It’s time to install the WinTV. After doing try an errors and reading the forums, I found CD Version 5.9g from Hauppauge Digital Support page works. After scanning 108 cable channels, I found that the sound wss not there. Did this -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Manage Audio Devices -> Playback -> Right Click “Speakers” -> Properties -> Levels -> Un-Mute Line In button, Yeppy.. the sound works. Set the “Recording Device” to “Line In” for recording setup.

10.45am, Mcafee Enterprise v8.5i next.Took 20 minutes to install and updated the latest dats. Noticed that Windows Vista started to load slower and I decided to use AVG virusscan instead.

11.15am, Install Adobe Reader 8.0, Adobe Flash Player (version 9,0,45,0), Picasa 2, WinRAR 3.70 beta 7, Download Accelerator Plus 8.5, DivX Player 6.4 and Nullsoft Winamp 5.34.

12.15pm, it’s time to defrag C: drive.

The New System -> Windows Vista Ultimate!

Windows Experience Index showing my graphics card need an upgrade to use Aero Glass and Flip 3D.
